The World Superhero Registry

The public forum and  resource center for the Real-Life Superhero community...

The World Superhero Registry was established in March of 2005 and since it's inception, has been a driving force in the RLSH community. The website was the first website completely devoted to promoting the Real-Life Superhero lifestyle and documenting the evolution of the RLSH subculture.
The registry is not a membership site or a club, it is an independent entity which showcases authenticated Real-Life Superheroes who are taking action to improve the world in a concrete way.

In order for a Real-Life Superhero to be added to the registry, there must be proof that he or she is actively involved in suitably heroic activities. Proof of those activities is usually established via media coverage or firsthand accounts from respected figures in the RLSH community.

Criteria

A Real-Life Superhero must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered for the registry:

 - Costume: The purpose of a costume is not simply to protect the identity of the Real-Life Superhero from criminals that might seek revenge, but to make a statement both to the evil-doers that you fight against and to the world at large: you are not simply someone who happened upon crime or injustice and made an impulsive decision to intervene. You have vowed to actively fight for the betterment of  humankind and to serve as an example for others. The costume of a Real-Life Superhero must be of sufficient quality to show some care went into it's creation.

 - Heroic Deeds: The purpose behind becoming a Real-Life Superhero must be for the benefit of mankind, and the Heroic Deeds must be of sufficient degree as to exceed normal everyday behavior. If proof of  Heroic Deeds is not present, a listing may still be added to the Registry, however, it may be marked as  "inactive" or "unconfirmed" in the description.

 - Personal Motivation: A Real-Life Superhero cannot be a paid representative of an organization, not even a benevolent one. The motivation to become a Real-Life Superhero must come from the individual: not an advertising gimmick or a public relations campaign.

Philosophy

DO NO HARM

Mistakes are unacceptable when one is dealing with matters of Life and Death. Getting into a battle with a villain risks not only the lives of those involved, but those of anyone within range of their weapons. Remember: With great power comes great responsibility!

Non-lethal means of apprehending a villain provide an essential safety-margin, although even non-lethal techniques can sometimes result in injury or death. Sound judgment is always essential to prevent tragedy.

Unless a Hero chances upon a major crime in progress, careful research and planning are essential to any action to be taken. Poor research and planning could result in trying to apprehend undercover law-enforcement officers and other undesirable  outcomes.

FAIRNESS

Although it may be tempting to pursue petty criminals due to the ease with which they can be found, in many cases it does not truly serve the cause of justice, nor is it worth the risk.

Apprehending prostitutes saves no lives, protects no property, and does not significantly advance the cause of justice.

Apprehending casual drug users is also of limited value to society.

When confronted by an essentially victimless crime, the appropriate response is, if anything, a warning or stern lecture, not trying to physically apprehend them.

We stand for our beliefs, the rights of others. We stand for
